Whine Whine Wine...Vol 3

Wine Number 3

Wine: 2004 Toasted Head Merlot
Cost: $7.99
Cap Type: Cork
Bottle: Normal wine bottle with a downward taper and a deep bottom indention.
Label: Small label with bear blowing flames. Neat.
Alcohol Content: 13.5%

This wine totally surpassed my expectations. This was tasty and drinkable and I actually really enjoyed it! I will probably get more if this. To me, it has a nutty, fruity flavor that wasn't dry or bitter. It has a little sweetness but not too much.

I enjoyed this stuff!

Whine Whine Wine...Vol 2

Wine Number 2

Wine: 2005 California Zinfandel by Donny Boon Vinyards
Cost: $34.99
Cap Type: Screw Cap
Bottle: Normal wine bottle with deep bottom indention with nice golf ball like texture inside.
Label: Great art of a crazy Cardinal Devil guy done by Ralph Steadman. Hand written back label.
Alcohol Content: 14%

It really is odd how two wines of the same type can taste so different. This is a Zinfadel just like the last wine but this one tasted really good! No real bitterness and no dryness at all. There was a real nice fruity, grapey flavor that was easy to drink. I day have to point out that I just drank this straight from the bottle. Figured since I'm not sharing it with anyone it would be ok.

This is a wine I would order and drink for the sake of drinking.

Update: This wine tastes better on the 2nd day!

Whine Whine Wine...

So with my high Blood Pressure I am supposed to start drinking one glass of Red Wine a night. I've never been much of a wine person, but I have never really tried too many, so I decided I was going to try as many wines as I can and keep a record of them here. To help me remember which ones I like and which ones remind me of urine.

Wine Number 1

Wine: Ravenswood 2004 California Zinfandel
Cost: $6:99 on sale at Safeway
Cap Type: Cork
Bottle: Normal wine bottle with deep bottom indention (I'm sure there is a name for that)
Label: Cool logo, like the center piece of an old 45 record. Nothing else really, strait to the point.
Alcohol Content: 13.5%

So...I was not a big fan of this upon first taste. It was really kinda dry and bitter tasting. It had a very unripe grape taste to me. But I have the pallet of a cave man.

My second sip (ok, it was more like a gulp) was much better. The dryness was still there a little and the bitterness was definitely there but it did not assault my senses as much as the first taste. This time the taste was much smoother and actually tasted like something you could actually drink.

The rest of my glass was ok. I can't say I enjoyed it. It would probably be better with food, at least for me. This is not a wine I would would order just for the sake of drinking.

Home Sweet Home...March 2007 Edition

I saw that all my friends bands (Born to Lose, Cruiserweight, and an acoustic Dynamite Boy reunion) were playing and I have been very homesick and really missing all of my friends so I decided on a whim to fly home for the show and hang for the weekend.

The show was so much fun! I also got to see Say Hello to the Angels (Dustin from the Riddlin' Kids and Sal, Ben, and Ray from Rubberhead's new band) and Mark Disaster from New Disaster. Sadly I missed New Disaster which I am pretty sad about.

In addition to going to the shows a bunch of us went to Trudy's on Saturday. Aside from the always long wait, it was a really good time and delicious. I think the food in Austin is a thousand times better than the stuff here. We also hit up Taco Cabana (YAY!) and Schlotzky's. I love it so much!

Ben and I met up with Lauren, Melissa, Katrina, and Sarah on Saturday night for some good times at one of the new hoity toity bars on west 6th. The girls were shocked to see Ben Ballard in that place. There was a little drama with lost cell phones and getting too drunk and me almost getting into a fight but Lauren totally owning the assjacket with here witty and sarcastic attacks.

We went to Ashley's house and hung out with the Good in the Sack kids and watched people play Wii's Wario's Smooth Moves. So awesome.

The trip was so amazing and made me once again realize I need to move back to Texas. That is where I need to be right now, but I am dedicated and committed to my job.

Oh yeah, I got two new tattoos at True Blue while I was there. On my wrists I got AWESOME and RADICAL. Cause you can't be awesome without ME and you can't have racical without CAL (my initials!).

The guy who did them was super cool but the work kinda sucked. I should have help out for Joe Kennett, but he didn't have time and I have been jonesing and wanting this for over a year now.

Engrish or Intentional?

There is this new place up the road from my house that I pass everyday while going to work. I'm not sure if I am just reading it wrong or if it engrish or just a case of bad grammar...

It is very funny to me either way.

Bowling at the Presidio

The first couple of pics are from the Perpetual Holiday party. I remember thinking to myself while taking that one picture "make a cool face, look smooth and awesome!", it didn't work.

Also, a while back some peeps and myself decided to go do a little bowling. Wii Sports Bowling really got me into a bowling mood. MikeG owns at Wii Bowling, so don't challenge him. I hit a 214 and he immediately busted out a 240-something or higher...I can't remember, or rather choose not to remember.

The Presidio Bowl is a hotbed of attractive ladies as well. Always a good time to be had. The only problem is their jukebox socks. Oh, and bowling is expensive.
