Comic-Con and San Diego Air Museum

This past week (July 25 - July 29th) I was in San Diego for one of the largest annual geek conventions in the world. Comic-Con International! It was a really great time. Comic-Con is getting bigger and bigger each year ans is kinda taking the place of E3. There was so much cool and a whole lotta crap. I did learn that there is a market for everything.

The only real problem with all of these geek conventions is the terrible body odor of some of these people...seriously guys, shower!

In addition to all the cool stuff and the great showing of our great game, I got to see Lauren again! She is the girl who played Medusa at E3 last year, she was the Pirates of the Burning Sea girl this year (who is also being published by SOE). She is seriously one of the sweetest girls I've ever met. Not to mention that she is stunningly beautiful. So we talked a lot and had a lot of fun. We had a new model to play Medusa this year, her name is Natalie and she was also fantastic. So beautiful and sweet and nice and funny. We all talked a lot and shared scary stories and it was really fun. I can't wait to see them again in Vegas this week.

We also shared a booth with the Sony Pictures Imagworks group and all the ladies there were a blast to hang out with! we had so much fun with each other and one of the girls nearly castrated a guy with the bouncy balls we were giving out. It was pretty damn funny.

On Saturday we went to the SOE studio and had the second annual SOE Block Party. this was a more intimate gathering of a thousand or so people to come and play all of the SOE and Platform Published games and have free food and chill with the dev teams. It was a really good time as well a another great showing of the game.

Before the Block Party we had a little time to kill so we went to the San Deigo Marine Air Museum and got to check out all the planes and stuff. Being a fan of airplanes it was a good time.

Aside from my stupid foot hurting it was a really great time.

Comic-Con!

Ray Harryhausen (The godfather of visual effects in movies!). He did all the effects in Clash of the Titans and Jason and the Argonauts and was really excited to see a living Medusa. It was awesome!

This kid was so adorable. He LOVED Lauren as the Pirate! Cutest picture ever?

Block Party!

And this Thursday I head to Las Vegas for the SOE Fan Faire! That should be a great time...my bank account is scared.

The Journeyman - filmed next to my office

Today, I get to work and there is a camera crew and all the accompanying utilities spread all over the outside of my building at 2nd and Minna downtown SF. I walked over to check it out and promptly go asked by a nice lady with a little sas to walk one way or the other. I told her I worked up there and pointed to the 4th floor and she said "That's great but you are right int he middle of the shot." So i went upstairs and grabbed my camera. I didn't have my still camera so the screens are crappy.

The show they were filming is a new NBC show called Journeyman starring the lead guy from ROME (which is funny cause we are making a Roman themed game....I guess it's not that funny) who discovers he can travel through time or something. It could be cool.

Youtube video I filmed of a scene they were filming.

Crappy pictures

More Event Photos - Hero Camp and My Hotel at E3

At work we had an event where a bunch of press came in to play the game. I twas a good event called Hero Camp. The place we help the event at is called Shanghai 1930. It is a restaurant but in the bottom they have a cigar lounge and scotch bar. It cost $3500 to become a member plus an annual expenditure. Insane. They also have a shot of scotch that costs $300. I tried to con one out of the guy to which he replied "F*ck no". It was funny and all the people there were really cool.

Also, I a fascinated with hotel rooms. I don't know why but I am. The Hotel (Hyatt Regency Century Plaza)we stayed in while in Santa Monica for E3 was nice and the shower really freaked me out. It was awesome...there was no "tub" or walls keeping the water in, it just ran to a drain in the middle of the floor and about a minute after you shut the water off the floor was dry. I want a shower like this in my next house.

This is the radiator filler cap on my scooter that broke... (AVOID MR. SCOOTER!)

Um...yeah. This is part of a mural at a hardware store at 3rd and Mission. Wow...

My hotel at E3 - so many stupid spensive cars - Lambo, Astin-Martin, Ferrari... *sigh*

The AWESOME shower! Look at that thing!

It's been a while - Papercraft, E3, Weddings!

Oh, hello there. I didn't hear you come it. It's been a long time since I last posted and a lot has been going on. I'll add a bunch of random stuff over the weekend and probably in a crazy order that makes no sense at all.

Let's start with the latest goings on. This has been a busy month and only gets worse. First I went to Santa Monica for E3 which was very different than past years. Ill post more on that later. There are pics below. I had to leave a day early to meet up with Ben Ballard who came into town for Chris Hinton's (Big Black, My brother from another mother) wedding to the lovely Lorrie in Sacramento. I was honored to be the best man, and it was an amazing wedding. I would almost call it perfect if my tux had fit better.

Then I went to see a show (Time Again @ Thee Parkside) and met some kickass people - Lisa and Tony. I also ran into Jessica again at the Re-volts show, good times, it has been a while.

Next week I go to San Diego on the 25th - 29th for Comic-con and the 2nd annual SOE Block Party. That should be a good time. Then I come back for a day or two and then head to Las Vegas (god help us all) for the SOE Fan Faire from the 1st - 5th to demo Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising. Vegas has not been good to me so far...I hope this trip is better.

Then a have a week or two off before I head to Indianapolis for Gen-Com. Talk about geek overload! It is always a lot of fun though, so I am excited.

Oh, yeah, I got a scooter! It rules the school on the face!

Papercraft skullmask rules!

E3 stuff...

Barker hanger at E3. Nothing like jets flying over as you try to pimp your stuff.

Morgan Webb and Olivia Munn are SO MUCH hotter in person and on TV.

Wedding rehearsal goodness.

Best grooms cake ever? Methinksso!

The big day - I was more nervous than Chris...

Giving the toast...I was so nervous and shaking so badly that I almost dropped my glass...

"I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today" - Grrr...little ties on fat guys do not a good look make.
